Freshman Alabama Congressman, Rep. Parker Griffith (D), has publicly confirmed that he will not vote for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House this time around. However, the other freshman Representative from Alabama, Bobby Bright (D), just cannot seem to find fault with the Speaker. Not only has Bright been reluctant to state his intended vote for the next Speaker of the House, he has stated that Pelosi made him promise to be "independent minded" in his decisions.
"I have been [independent minded] and she has not bothered me one bit at all with any of my votes. Pelosi has been very professional towards me," said Bright.
Well, Representative Bright, she has not been exactly "professional" towards some of your constituents.
Let's recap what Nasty Nancy had to say about Americans who attended the town halls to voice their opposition to government run healthcare.
"These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades."
Nancy Pelosi also claims that protesters are, "carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare." And she called the town halls an "ugly campaign" to undermine the Democrats plan of socialized healthcare.
Madame Speaker has also gone so far as to insult federal law enforcement officers by calling their actions in performing their job duties "un-American." Since when did worksite arrests and deportation of illegal aliens become an "un-American" duty of law enforcement?
Congressman Bright, I fail to see how you cannot publically condemn a person who not only said those things, but who has a record that includes voting NO on banning partial-birth abortions, NO on the Border Security Bill, NO on the Defense of Marriage Act, NO on requiring photo identification for voters, NO on eliminating the Death Tax, NO on eliminating the Marriage Penalty and NO to protecting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Surely these do not represent your "Alabama Values," Congressman Bright. Or maybe they do.
After all, you were the one that said no COLA for Social Security recipients "keeps our taxes down. So you can't have your cake and eat it too."
How appropriate that you quoted Marie Antoinette. I wonder of your [metaphorical] fate will be the same?
